In developing circular economy services and promoting circular retail, the fintech company’s circular economy retail network, Banknote, sold over 120,000 pre-owned and slightly pre-owned items last year, encouraging the reuse of items and supporting the implementation of circular economy principles in everyday life.

According to Didzis Ādmīdiņš, Chairman of the Management Board at DelfinGroup, last year, the company prevented additional greenhouse gas emissions amounting to 6,180 tonnes, equivalent to the annual emissions of 1,716 Latvian residents, as stated in the DelfinGroup 2023 ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) report.

"Alongside business development, DelfinGroup is committed to contributing to a sustainable future, and we are pleased that our efforts to promote the circular economy are yielding tangible results in environmental protection. For example, compared to 2022, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions prevented by DelfinGroup operations increased by 13.6%, driven by various company initiatives. Purchasing pre-owned goods is a thoughtful and sustainable choice as it extends the life cycle of items and reduces premature disposal. It also decreases the consumption of natural resources and prevents greenhouse gas emissions generated by the production and logistics of new goods," says D. Ādmīdiņš.

He adds that interest in pre-owned and certified goods and confidence in their quality are also boosted by the company’s product warranty, which is provided for up to 24 months for all goods. "To make the purchase of pre-owned and slightly pre-owned goods more convenient, we also manage the largest circular retail online store in Latvia, veikals.banknote.lv, where more than 55,000 used and certified goods are available for purchase in one place," explains D. Ādmīdiņš.

Alongside promoting the circular economy, DelfinGroup is also actively involved in social responsibility initiatives. In 2023, the company donated a total of 195,000 euros to various projects. Aiming to improve the quality of life and conditions for seniors, the company continued to support the Latvian Senior Community Association by enhancing the medical and technical equipment of social care institutions and providing opportunities for seniors to acquire essential modern knowledge and skills, including promoting financial literacy among seniors. Since the beginning of this cooperation, assistance has been provided to 20 social care centres across Latvia.

Furthermore, in continuing to support the introduction of new and innovative solutions in children’s healthcare services, DelfinGroup, in collaboration with the Children’s Hospital Foundation, helped the Children’s Clinical University Hospital (BKUS) acquire a new anaesthetic machine. It will make preparation for surgery more comfortable for young patients. The company also supported training for doctors in working with the new technologies.

The company’s goal is active participation in creating a sustainable society by providing opportunities for people and promoting inclusion, diversity, equality, and well-being. Therefore, last year DelfinGroup continued to support Ukraine in its fight for independence and freedom.
