Latvian financial service company AS DelfinGroup, in cooperation with its long-term partner the Association of Senior Communities in Latvia (Latvijas senioru kopienu apvienība - LSKA), is expanding its support for seniors throughout Latvia and placing special emphasis on the people in regions. The donations made this year will help to ensure the purchase of medical equipment in social care institutions in 15 cities of Latvia and to continue educating seniors in the areas of financial literacy and IT.

Ivars Lamberts, Member of the Management Board of AS DelfinGroup: “When we started our cooperation with LSKA several years ago, we realised how important it is to support the elderly both with the purchase of medical equipment and the development of financial skills, as well as the creation of socialisation opportunities. This is why we continue to increase our donations every year to improve more and more important areas. Additional donations made by DelfinGroup will provide medical equipment and aids in social care institutions in many regions of Latvia. It is important to us that the cooperation is not limited to financial support, therefore, we are actively working to offer educational opportunities as well. For example, together with LSKA we organise IT and financial skills seminars. There is a lot of work to be done, but we see improvements step by step.”

In addition to the support provided at the beginning of 2021, AS DelfinGroup signed an agreement on making donations to LSKA for the purchase of medical equipment in order to improve the quality of life of the elderly. By the end of the year, it is planned to hand over the medical inventory and materials that LSKA will purchase for the received donation to 15 social care institutions, hospitals, nursing homes and associations throughout Latvia.

In several social care institutions, seniors are already successfully using medical equipment and inventory purchased as donations - for example, a special oxygen device at Mazsalaca Hospital, walkers, wheelchairs, crutches and various electrical equipment in the Līvāni Day Center. Seniors in the care of Auce and Alūksne social services will also receive the necessary medical equipment in the near future.

Chairman of the Management Board of LSKA, Astrīda Babāne: “We are very happy that because of the financial support provided by AS DelfinGroup, we are able to help many seniors, who spend the rest of their lives in social care centres. The gifting of medical equipment to these institutions has become a good tradition, and we are really pleased that the amount of aid is growing every year. Last year we donated medical care products and inventory to long-term social care patients at Dundaga Health centre; this year, with the support of AS DelfinGroup, medical equipment and aids, including the oxygen device necessary for Covid-19 patients, were handed over to Mazsalaca Hospital. Dobele Municipality home care workers have also received special inventory, and the Līvāni day care centre, Viļaka social care centre and Šķilbēni social care house have received medical equipment.”
