DelfinGroup provides the latest generation anaesthetic device to the Children’s Hospital
Continuing to support the introduction of new and innovative solutions in children’s healthcare services, this year the fintech company DelfinGroup, in cooperation with the Children’s Hospital Foundation, helped the Children’s Clinical University Hospital (BKUS) to provide a new anaesthetic device that will allow young patients to prepare for surgery more calmly. The company has also supported the training of doctors in new technologies. The total donation amount to the hospital is almost € 66 000.
With the purchase of the new anaesthetic device, a new and unique service has been introduced at BKUS: anaesthesia will be administered to the patient in the pre-operative room in the presence of the child’s parent, thus improving comfort before surgery. The new generation device has an ergonomic design and high levels of safety, stability, and comfort, which improve the treatment process. The cost of the device and the necessary equipment is almost € 40 000.
The company has also supported the purchase of Pain Out, a special data collection programme that will help assess a child’s pain level in the post-operative period and thus improve the treatment and care of the patient. In Latvia, two medical institutions – the Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopaedics and Vidzeme Hospital – have been participating in the Pain Out project for several years.
The company also donated € 26 000 to the Clinic for Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery to support the training of paediatric cardiologists and the purchase of 3D software (CT and AI echocardiography).
"Cooperation of the Children’s Hospital Foundation with DelfinGroup has already enabled us to introduce several new innovative technologies and significantly improve the diagnostic and treatment options for patients at the Children’s Hospital. The anaesthesia device donated this year will also make a great contribution to the well-being of young patients, as mum or dad will be able to accompany the child before the surgery until the patient falls asleep. However, buying the technology is not enough; you have to know how to use it, which is why we also greatly appreciate the investment in doctors’ education, including AI programmes, for Latvian children to receive world-class treatment," says Liene Dambiņa, Chair of the Management Board of the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
"Since 2018, DelfinGroup has been supporting the Children’s Hospital Foundation by donating funds for new initiatives to improve the accessibility and efficiency of children’s healthcare services. Innovations provide greater comfort not only to fintech but also to medical services; therefore, it is important for DelfinGroup, as an innovative company, to make sure that technologies and innovations are also used as widely as possible in healthcare, which is especially important when thinking about supporting young patients," says Didzis Ādmīdiņš, Chairman of the Management Board of DelfinGroup.
He adds that in 2022, with the support of DelfinGroup, a bicycle spiroergometry room was created at BKUS, adding the first bicycle spiroergometer, which can be used for cardiopulmonary exercise testing, to the range of medical equipment for children in Latvia.
