DelfinGroup signs a cooperation agreement with Association of Senior Communities in Latvia

Latvian financial service provider DelfinGroup has signed a cooperation agreement with the Association of Senior Communities in Latvia, committing to continue supporting various activities for the elderly in Latvia in 2021. The purpose of the cooperation is to facilitate a more inclusive society in Latvia, specifically, helping the elderly attain the nowadays crucially required skills of using modern technologies. The cooperation agreement covers the organizing of seminars about general IT skills, online payment security, using online programs such as ZOOM, MS Teams, as well as a variety of other digital skills.

In addition, seminars will be held on how to receive social services, how to do tax recalculation, personal tax recovery options, pension laws, and also practical guidance on how to prepare reports using the State Revenue Service Electronic Declaration Systems.

As Kristaps Bergmanis, DelfinGroup member of the board points out: ‘The elderly are one of the socially most vulnerable groups in Latvia, and they are especially affected by loneliness and the lack of social opportunity. However, this must not be definitive, and the rest of the society should express more solidarity towards helping the elderly attain new skills which would help them become a more active group in public life. Learning new digital skills helps the elderly overcome loneliness, find new friends, hobbies and even work opportunities. In 2020 under the “Banknote” brand, we actively participated in the social assistance project “Care for the elderly”. As part of the project in 2020 we helped organizations and individual seniors in Latvia with household appliances, home improvements and other targeted charitable activities.’

The seminars for digital skills and financial literacy will be held in Riga, Ventspils, Aluksne, Kuldiga, Dundaga and Cesis, as soon as the state of emergency in Latvia is lifted and the epidemiological situation can be deemed safe.
