DelfinGroup increases support for improving opportunities for seniors

Support for seniors throughout Latvia is an important and ongoing social initiative of AS DelfinGroup; therefore, this year the amount donated to the Association of Senior Communities in Latvia (LSKA) has been increased to improve the medical and technical equipment of several care institutions and provide seniors with essential knowledge and competencies. The aim of the long-term partnership is to improve the quality and conditions of life for seniors, as well as to expand opportunities in the long term.
“Providing support to seniors throughout Latvia is an important part of AS DelfinGroup’s social responsibility, as seniors, especially those living in the regions, are one of the most vulnerable groups in society and need helping in particular. Our corporate social responsibility policy is based on our belief in equal opportunities, that’s why AS DelfinGroup actively participates in building a sustainable society, providing opportunities for people and promoting inclusion, diversity, equality and prosperity in the long run,” says Didzis Ādmīdiņš, Chairman of the Management Board of AS DelfinGroup.
The donation of AS DelfinGroup will provide an opportunity for LSKA to implement several activities important for seniors in numerous places across Latvia - the funds will be used for social support, education of seniors, creating opportunities for socialisation, as well as ensuring the association's everyday work in defence of the interests of senior citizens. Last year, thanks to the support of DelfinGroup, social care institutions in 15 cities of Latvia received various technical aid and medical equipment so needed by seniors. Wheelchairs, crutches, frames and other tools were purchased, as well as oxygen equipment, mattresses, hygiene goods and other inventory. This year, another 12 centres in different regions of Latvia will have the opportunity to procure the necessary medical equipment and aids, and three institutions will be able to carry out improvement works to better attend to the needs of seniors and quality of their everyday life.
To improve the skills and competencies of seniors, throughout the year, training in financial and media literacy and information technologies and the development of useful educational materials on these topics are planned. Similar educational activities carried out in the past have been widely received and appreciated by seniors, confirming the need to build an inclusive society. LSKA has already started active work on the implementation of the planned measures and within the framework of Financial Literacy Week 2022, at the end of March, the first seminar Financial Literacy for Seniors will be organised to address the current topic: How to protect your money from fraudsters, and how to protect your personal data?
“Given that we are seniors ourselves, we feel with our heart and soul how much this help is appreciated by those elderly people, who need care every day because they can no longer look after themselves. Therefore, it is a great pleasure that together we have managed to make their daily lives a little easier and happier This year we will continue to identify the needs of social care institutions and, with the support of AS DelfinGroup, supply them with the necessary medical equipment. It is really gratifying to see that the donor has not only increased the amount donated to senior support programmes, but also the company's employees plan to participate in the improvement works of several social care centres,” says Astrīda Babāne, Chairman of the Management Board of LSKA.
